The Ultimate Delusion: A Generation Full of Itching Ears

Greetings to all,

If you are reading this, I want to say thank you. Today is your day, and it is also a day that the Lord has made. Therefore, let us rejoice and be glad in it (Psalm 118:24).

The deliverance that your soul has been desperately yearning for is upon you, but it will come only as you believe.

We are living in such a critical time right now. To some, the words written in the Scriptures are just now coming to life. But to those who have been in the faith, these same words have not only strengthened us, but have also given us a mind to persevere and endure through a time such as this.

What a time it is to be alive.

Even though we are consistently at war with the adversary, I find it very honorable that we are able to serve in the armies of the Living God. For I know that we are well-equipped for a work such as this. Again, let us rejoice and be glad in it (Psalm 118:24).

There is a major crisis in the midst of our generation. Our enemy has deceived many and will continue to deceive many until the day of his eternal judgment.

He is known to have many tricks and will display many lying wonders. His most famous work is deception. Through its effects, it causes mass destruction.

 

A Side Note

To state the obvious, I want to make this very clear. I am not accrediting Satan for doing anything good. However, it is imperative that we no longer live according to any of his deceptive ways. Quite frankly, we do not have enough time to.

I say this carefully because if we do not take advantage of this critical hour, many souls will suffer the same eternal judgment that awaits him.

“And the devil, who deceived them, was cast into the lake of fire and brimstone where the beast and the false prophet are. And they will be tormented day and night forever and ever.” - Revelation 20:10

There are many teachers within the Body of Christ. Some are righteous, and some are wolves in sheep’s clothing (2 Peter 2).

In this critical hour, is it possible to discern who is who?

The Scripture tells us:

“For the time will come when people will not endure sound teaching, but they will follow their own desires, and look for teachers who will tell them whatever their itching ears would like to hear. They will turn their ears away from the truth, and chase after myths.”    - II Timothy 4:3-4

At this very hour, this Scripture has come to pass.

To have itching ears, or an itching ear.

What does it mean for a person to have itching ears (plural)?

        - It means to align with or subscribe to a doctrine that does not edify a person, but               ultimately destroys them.

        - They are drawn to the sound of it, but not the substance behind it.

        - They are not challenged to change, but encouraged to remain the same.

        - They prefer teachings centered on sensuality rather than purity.

        - They are advised to live comfortably in their own sin.

What does it mean for a person to have an itching ear (singular)?

        - It means to align with or subscribe to a doctrine that has the ability to edify a                       person and challenge their mind, but they lack the practical wisdom. 

        - The person listens to sound teaching, but does not apply it to their own life.

        - They understand the importance of sound teaching, but cannot sustain it because             of their own strongholds.

        - Through the battles of the mind, and through the woes of life, they are often the                 ones Satan fights the most.

When Jesus spoke this parable, He spoke with authority and not passively:

“But everyone who hears these teachings of Mine, and does not do them, will be like a foolish man who built his house on the sand: and the rain descended, the floods came, and the winds blew and beat on that house; and it fell. And great was its fall.” - Matthew 7:26-27

In perspective, the one who has itching “ears” and the one who has an itching “ear” arrive at the same destination. They both lack a foundation that is built upon the Rock.

For example, a person can be saved and believe all of the Scriptures, yet lack exposure to the life within those Scriptures. They are often drawn to teachings centered on self, prosperity, grace, abundance, and breakthroughs.

On the other hand, a person can be saved and believe all of the Scriptures, yet lack the understanding of how to incorporate the power of those Scriptures into everyday life. They are often hyper-focused on teachings concerning deliverance, demonology, and kingdom wealth, perceiving these things as the “deep things of God.”

In fact, with the exception of self-centered teachings, all of these subjects can be beneficial and have their place within the Kingdom of God, but only when they are rightly divided.

As the Scripture says:

“Be diligent to present yourself approved to God, a worker who does not need to be ashamed, rightly dividing the word of truth.” - II Timothy 2:15

These are just a few examples of teachings that can cause believers to set their affections on earthly things first rather than spiritual things.

Likewise, some teachings can cause believers to focus heavily on spiritual matters while lacking the understanding of how those truths are to be lived out on the earth.

Therefore, whether one has itching ears or an itching ear, it is ultimately a reflection of priorities that have become disordered.

But now is the time to put these things in order.

There is a way to overcome this.

And I say this to you with the same authority that Jesus spoke with during His time on the earth:

       1.Set your affection on things above, not on things of the earth (Colossians 3:2).

       2.Seek first the Kingdom of God and His righteousness, and all these things shall be              added to you (Matthew 6:33).

       3. Walk in reverence, not as fools but as wise, redeeming the time because the days              are evil (Ephesians 5:15-16).

For this is your deliverance. It is given to you not through a spirit of offense, but through the Spirit of love. And by now, you should know that God Himself is love (1 John 4:8).

Therefore, experience His love and do not reject it. Endure sound teaching, and do not be deceived by having either itching ears or an itching ear.

And remember:

“For God Himself does not tempt anyone. But each one is tempted when he is drawn away by his own desires and enticed.” - James 1:14-15

 

My Prayer for You

Lord, let us endure sound teaching so that we may have a strong foundation, a house that is built upon a rock, because You are my Lord and my Rock (Psalm 18:2).
