"Perception Is Reality": A Doctrine Led by Demons

Sometimes a person can develop a false perception about another person. When a false perception takes place, there are usually signs that follow:

        - Not demonstrating love

        - Not considering wisdom

        - Not facilitating discernment

What does it mean to have perception?

To have perception means to have the ability to be aware of and understand who or what dwells within your environment.

Within this, there are two forms of perception:

1. Natural perception

2. Supernatural perception

A perception stems not only from a belief, but from an ideology.

In fact, there are many ideologies, and each one has its own purpose. Each one has its own kingdom and fits within its own system.

And in totality, there are only two systems:

One that was created by light and called day, and one that was created by darkness and called night (Genesis 1:3–5).

Let us observe this realm of perception through the lens of Jesus’ life.

In John chapter 2, we see a perfect example of what it means to operate from the scope of natural perception versus supernatural perception.

Verses 24–25 state:

“But Jesus did not commit Himself to them, because He knew all men, and had no need that anyone should testify of man, for He knew what was in man.”

Prior to this, Jesus and His family were attending a wedding feast where He performed one of the first of many signs (John 2:6–11).

When the people saw Jesus at this event, many only perceived Him as Mary’s son, the carpenter, and not for who He truly was. It was evident that He was misunderstood. The people at the feast had already settled in their hearts who they believed Him to be, but Mary, His mother, did not (John 2:3–5).

Her perception of her own Son was true, while theirs was carnal. To them, He was unknown.

The Scripture states:

“He was in the world, and the world was made through Him, and the world did not know Him. He came to His own, and His own did not receive Him.” — John 1:10–11

Mary knew exactly who Jesus was long before He performed any sign or wonder. From the day of His birth, she recognized Him, which caused her to continually honor Him.

Even though she gave birth to Him physically, she never became so familiar with Him that she lost sight of who He was spiritually.

It is evident that many people cannot perceive beyond surface-level things. Their perception can only operate within the realm of the obvious, but they cannot detect what lies beyond it.

Perception lies beyond carnality. It is not always tied to reality.

A person’s perception of someone can become very skewed, especially when viewed through the lens of familiarity, which ultimately leads to dishonor.

My questions for you:

1. Are you able to perceive beyond the natural scope of who you think Jesus is?

2. Have you become so familiar with Him that you cannot recognize Him even when He is present?

3. Is He currently present in your life?

4. Is it surprising to you when His blessings are placed upon you?

5. Do prophecy, miracles, signs and wonders, or even the laying on of hands and casting out of devils sound astonishing to you?

If they do, give thanks and rejoice, but do not marvel, because all of these things are considered the “elementary principles of Christ” (Hebrews 6).

1 Timothy 4:1 states:

“In the latter times some shall depart from the faith, giving heed to deceiving spirits and doctrines of demons.”

“Perception is reality” is one of them.

Because of this, let us not linger in the teachings of this doctrine, nor be seduced by the spirit of deception. Instead, let us go on to perfection, that the work may continue (Hebrews 6:1).

I write this message not only to challenge you, but also to encourage you to learn and walk in the principle of honor and honoring others.

For this is how we demonstrate the love of Christ that is within us.

Lastly, stray away from demonic teachings and ideologies.

       - They produce dishonor.

       - They are influenced by the intellect of demons.

       - They are considered unrighteous.

       - They do not express the love of God.
